Influenced by the textures of nature, using the media of porcelain and black clay, I share my love of ceramics. Here you will find a selection of detailed small-scale sculptures, bowls, tiles and jewellery, both currently for sale and a gallery of my best work. Each piece is completely unique and individually sculpted by hand.

Lisa Stevens

After a long and successful career as a sculptor at Aardman Animations, I chose to focus on raising my family, using clay as a way to relax and remain creative. During these years, I have developed my own style through continual experimentation with clays, glazes and textures.

I work from my small home studio near Bristol Airport in the UK, taking inspiration from coral reefs, flowers, geology, moss and lichen. Most of the work is made of high-fired porcelain clay, which can be translucent when held up to the light. Wall sculptures and bowls are small scale, delicate and decorative, often the creamy white of pure unglazed porcelain, or vibrantly coloured using stoneware glazes, underglaze or melted glass.

The intricate patterns are not created using stamps, texture sheets or moulds, instead I use a variety of small tools to build up the textures. This is a time-consuming process, but the end results are crisp, organic and each piece will be truly unique.

Through my work, I hope to highlight the issues that human activity has on the environment. Small differences in each of our behaviours can add up to make a big difference.

“I don’t even know how she does it, but Lisa’s work is EVEN more gorgeous in person. Just so beautiful.”

“All I can say is WOW! I am so in love with the pieces I purchased from Seaurchin. They are stunning and even better in real life (if that’s even possible!)
